Position Overview
Reporting to, and in close collaboration with the Vice-President, Commercial Sales, this individual will be responsible for managing all current direct and Reseller/Distributor sales activities in the Middle East & Africa. In addition to existing customers, the Sales Manager will manage new business coming in via phone, email, tradeshows, targeted outbound efforts and other lead sources. This person will work to encourage and facilitate the marketing of Merrithew® products in their designated territory to drive sales revenue with existing customers, and will play a key role in highly targeted business development to help grow the company’s direct sales and reseller network. The ability to speak Arabic is a plus for this sales role.
Admin support is available through the Customer Service team (replacement parts, damaged shipments, etc.) and the Sales Coordinator for qualifying new leads and Saved Carts opportunities.
Major Responsibilities
Sales:
- Meet and exceed annual set sales quotas.
- Promote/negotiate/sell/secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based, consultative sales approach
- Respond with a sense of urgency to customer and prospect inquiries and prepare written presentations and price quotes
- Conduct quarterly Business reviews of current partners to gain a better understanding of their business, unique account-specific sales opportunities and how they communicate with their customers.
- Visit our Distributor and Reseller Partners to train their staff, pitch customers and strategize on new Business Development opportunities. Develop in-depth knowledge of people, systems and accounts.
- Manage onboarding of all new partners. Work with the Vice-President, Commercial Sales and team to determine needed tools and procedures.
- Develop comprehensive product knowledge of all lines of business to identify competitive features and benefits and favorably present Company products and services.
- Keep abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
- Notify partners of all new releases and discontinued items, with admin support.
- Report to management on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
Business Development
- Develop comprehensive Market knowledge in its territories, to identify unique account-specific sales opportunities.
- Work with the Vice-President, Commercial Sales to identify, pitch, secure and manage new Distributor and Reseller Partners.
- Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers.
- Visit or meet with potential partners, when/as appropriate, to develop new business.
- Develop prospecting skills, using social media sources including LinkedIn and Facebook, and trade associations etc.
- Attend and participate in trade shows, conventions, sales meetings and product seminars
Administrative/Customer Service
- Manage forecasts, close deals, and track customer data using company standard CRM tools with an ongoing and accurate sales funnel.
- Work with diverse teams across multiple departments to expedite the resolution of customer and logistical issues.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Skills & Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in Account Management and International Business Development roles
- Able to work independently with a proven track record in driving measurable results and exceeding sales targets
- Strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify, prioritize and articulate highest impact initiatives for business development.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Able and willing to travel internationally and domestically as required for the position.
- Superior problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), both in articulating his/her ideas and gathering input from key stakeholders.
- Additional languages, spoken and written, are a definite asset.
- Sales experience in the fitness industry an asset.
