Salary Range: $52,592.00 - $92,036.00

If you are looking for a rewarding career, please consider the Associate Warden / Correctional Asst Superintendent II opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.  This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

This position is located at Caswell Correctional Center which is a medium security facility and is in Blanch, NC, Caswell County.

Work in this class involves assisting the Warden in the day-to-day management and operation of the facility which provides a vast variety of programs and services to the offender population. 

  • The major duties of this position are to manage the total custody section, including the food service operation and provide for the safety and security of the facility. 
  • This position reviews all incident reports, assigns and reviews internal investigations, conducts critical internal investigations, reviews offender requests and responds appropriately, and assures that the personnel resources are allocated for the maximum benefit of the facility. 
  • This position handles special assignments as assigned by the Warden and is the Safety Manager of the facility. 
  • This facility houses and provides services to a maximum of 484 offenders and employs approximately 188 staff.    

Management Preferences:

  • Documented supervisory skills in a adult prison facility
  • Working knowledge of facility operations
  • Working knowledge of Adult Prison’s policy and procedures

State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.   Based upon these factors, a pay increase/decrease MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervisory, administrative or consultative experience in CORRECTIONS or related work;

-OR-

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level;

-OR-

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
