Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced API (small molecules) pilot plant professional to do plant operations, scale-up activities, and equipment designs. The candidate will execute chemical batches, create cGMP documents, adhere Safety compliance, and collaborate across R&D functions – chemistry, analytical and formulations, QA, QC, EHS, engineering maintenance and SCOO teams for successful scale ups. An incumbent will also support laboratory activities as and when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Operations
• Understand safe handling of hazardous chemicals
• Understand process chemistry, analytical reports and engineering of the planned scale up
• Lead batch execution and monitoring of process parameters
• Ensure readiness of plant systems and suggest necessary modifications
• Take decisions during deviations and communicate in a timely manner.
cGMP/Safety Documentation & Compliance
• Responsible for GMP documentation including Batch Records, SOPs, and validation
• Ensure equipment / area qualification, audit readiness and compliance
• Handle deviations, change control, and CAPA from ops perspective
• Understand plant/process safety instructions and procedures
Automation & Digital Operations
• Operate DCS and PLC-SCADA systems
• Ensure data integrity in manual and digital data generation and handling
• Drive process optimization
Critical Systems
• Acts as a Subject matter expert for GMP/Safety critical systems
• Apply continuous improvement mindset / agile behavior for equipment design inputs and operational practices and reliability centric maintenance
Qualifications
• Diploma or bachelor’s in chemical engineering / M.Sc. in organic chemistry
• 10-12 years of experience in Pharmaceutical R&D and/or manufacturing
• Understanding of Contained Operations (OEB4) and batch/continuous processing
• Laboratory working knowhow is a plus.

• Communicates technical information effectively to global colleagues from VMRD and GMS during batch shadowing. Practices active listening skills to understand information being communicated by others.
