Communications Assistant

The Communications Assistant strengthens Harbour Air's reputation through hands-on PR, media relations, storytelling, and event execution. The role drives positive visibility for key initiatives and sustainability efforts, builds lasting stakeholder and media relationships, and supports B2B marketing to help grow brand awareness.

WORK HOURS: Office hours (weekend and evenings as needed)

LOCATION: Vancouver / Bentall Head Office  

TERM: Full Time Regular 

DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Communications

Responsibilities and Expectations

External Communications

  • Support the planning and execution of PR campaigns promoting Harbour Air’s brand, services, and corporate initiatives.
  • Draft and edit press releases, media materials, speeches, briefing notes, and key messages.
  • Proactively pitch stories, secure media coverage, and manage press inquiries.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including DMOs, tourism partners, and industry organizations.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry developments, compiling insights and summaries for the team.
  • Maintain communications calendars, contact lists, and asset repositories, managing timelines and approvals to ensure materials are delivered on schedule.

Media Relations

  • Serve as the day-to-day coordination point for media requests, outreach, follow-ups, and coverage tracking.
  • Coordinate media bookings and FAM trips with operations, destinations, and commercial teams, including itineraries and internal approvals.
  • Support end-to-end execution of press events, launches, and brand activations, preparing run-of-show documents, press kits, and briefing notes.
  • Develop partnerships with influencers and community organizations.
  • Assistwith crisis communications preparedness materials and documentation.
  • Prepare regular media monitoring reports

Corporate Marketing

  • Support execution of corporate marketing and B2B campaigns aligned with business priorities.
  • Ensure consistency of corporate messaging across external communications channels.
  • Track deployment and measure leads generated from B2B marketing initiatives

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate within the marketing team to align PR storytelling with broader campaign strategies.
  • Partner cross-functionally and with leadership to support route launches, events, and corporate communications.
  • Coordinate with PR and creative agencies on campaigns, media outreach, and external communications.
  • Engage DMOs, tourism boards, chambers of commerce, and community partners on joint initiatives and brand visibility

Brand Support 

  • Support the execution of brand initiatives, activations, and campaigns in collaboration with the design and creative team.
  • Ensure brand consistency across external communications, materials, and channels.
  • Coordinate production of branded assets and collateral, managing timelines and approvals


Qualifications/Assets

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in communications roles preferably in airline industry, or comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in an agency environment is considered an asset
  • Experiencewithmedia dissemination tools,media monitoring,Newswire, Cision, Meltwater,etc.
  • Adaptable to changing business needs, priorities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ethical and professional conduct and ability to uphold confidentiality and discretion in work matters.
  • Ability to create positive work environment and build professional relationships.
  • Strong written andverbalcommunication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver on competing priorities.
