The Miles laboratory is looking for an experienced and interactive Research Assistant 2 to perform independent standard cell biology laboratory techniques including mammalian cell culture, shRNA, siRNA and transfections. Significant experience with DNA, RNA and protein extraction, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, gel extractions etc is required. In addition, this position requires the occasional preparation of solutions/reagents and maintenance of the lab environment including cleanup and organization (and perform other duties as assigned). The Research Assistant 2 will work closely with the Principal Investigator to execute designated experiments, translate and interpret the data and to assist in judging the validity of data. They will also be expected to maintain accurate and detailed notes and to write research progress reports. Key experience areas: RNA and protein extraction/analysis, RT-PCR and tissue culture manipulations (shRNA, siRNA and transfections). Excellent written and spoken is important.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED. 1 year of relevant experience required.
