We are recruiting for a Manager, Data Governance Lead, located in Sao Paulo, Brazil or Bogota, Colombia
HR Data & Intelligence sits at the heart of Johnson & Johnson’s HR Digital ecosystem, architecting the intelligence layer that shapes how the company understands, engages, and mobilizes its global workforce. This organization builds and operationalizes enterprise-scale data, analytics, and AI capabilities that do more than inform decisions—they reshape how HR plans, predicts, personalizes, and performs. The Data Governance function is responsible for defining enterprise data policies and ensuring those policies are consistently and practically applied across HR data domains, platforms, and use cases.
The Manager, Data Governance Lead is an experienced individual contributor reporting to the Director, Data Governance, and is responsible for operationalizing HR data governance policies across the HR data ecosystem. This role translates governance policy into executable processes, standards, controls, and artifacts, ensuring HR data is managed in accordance with enterprise requirements for privacy, security, quality, lineage, and access.
The Manager, Data Governance Lead works closely with Data Stewards, Data Platform teams, and Data Quality to ensure governance is embedded into day-to-day operation and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Operationalize HR data governance policies and standards by translating them into practical processes, controls, and documentation across HR data domains
Maintain and curate data governance artifacts, including business glossaries, metadata catalogs, lineage documentation, and data classification records
Support data governance audits, reviews, and compliance activities, ensuring evidence is documented, traceable, and up to date
Partner with Data Stewards to ensure governance standards are applied at the point of data definition and production, not corrected after the fact
Collaborate with Data Platform and Data Operations teams to embed governance requirements into data pipelines, access processes, and platform workflows
Monitor governance adherence and identify gaps, risks, or inconsistencies, escalating issues and recommending remediation actions to the Director of Data Governance
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business, or a related field
5 years of experience in data governance, data management, compliance, or related data roles within a large enterprise
Demonstrated experience operationalizing data governance frameworks, standards, or policies
Strong understanding of data governance concepts including metadata management, lineage, data classification, and access controls
Experience partnering with cross‑functional teams including data stewards, data engineering, HR technology, and compliance
Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline, with the ability to produce auditable governance artifacts
Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain governance requirements in practical, delivery‑oriented terms
Preferred:
Experience working with HR or people data in a regulated or global environment
Familiarity with data cataloging, lineage, or governance tools
Experience supporting privacy, security, or regulatory compliance activities related to data
Exposure to product‑based or agile delivery models, with governance embedded into delivery workflows
