Title: Lead-Buyer

Position Summary:
The Lead Buyer will champion the procurement process for centralization activities, ensuring adherence to the organization’s purchasing standards and guidelines both internally and externally. Additionally, the Lead Buyer will manage and execute purchase requisitions for materials and services needed by Fleet Maintenance Operations to ensure a continuous supply. This role involves cross-functional sourcing initiatives to develop, maintain, and manage strategies for critical commodities, aiming to reduce lead-time and commercial risks. The Lead Buyer will collaborate closely with internal customers to maintain timely communication on key objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing plans for key commodities to drive continuous improvement at service stations.
- Collaborate with department leaders on special projects within the tactical and strategic supply chain functions.
- Serve as the primary trainer for new hires and new processes within the procurement function.
- Assist in establishing material thresholds to control inventory dollars and avoid productivity losses.
- Create and manage purchase orders for Point of Use parts, inventory items and services.
- Help establish purchasing workflows to ensure accurate pricing and material selection.
- Engage in complex negotiations with suppliers to maintain a competitive supply chain.
- Facilitate warranty recovery on parts/labor through collaboration with maintenance staff and suppliers.
- Monitor, record, and manage the inventory of purchased components in designated areas– and support year-end inventory reconciliation across the campuses.
- Ensure continuous compliance internally/externally with company purchase terms and departmental standards.
- Assist maintenance technicians on parts for repair work-orders and perform inventory reconciliation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in business required, or equivalent and relevant work experience
- Bachelors degree or ISM/APICS certifications preferred buy not required
- At least five (5) years of purchasing and/or material planning experience in a service-oriented environment for medium/heavy duty fleet, equipment & parts management, repairs and warranty recover, ten (10) years preferred
- Experience with ERP systems, Fleetio and NetSuite a plus
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to aggregate and analyze large data set
- Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
