Job Summary
At Birgo, we are a mission-driven, vertically integrated private equity real estate firm focused on multifamily investments. We are seeking a highly technical, precision-oriented Assistant Controller to join our small and high-performing accounting team.
Our capital structures and entity frameworks feature numerous owners, distinct investment vehicles, complex debt instruments, and layered syndication models. Growth here is driven not by climbing a traditional corporate ladder, but by mastering the next complex transaction in a fast-paced environment.
This role is eligible for work from home with the expectation of working at the Pittsburgh office 3 days per week.

Core Responsibilities
- Transaction Management: Own the accounting lifecycle for property acquisitions, syndication deals, and dispositions, including managing intercompany transactions, loan/mortgage modules, and continuous process optimization.
- Month-End Close: Execute full-cycle investment accounting close procedures, architecting cost method, equity method, and multi-tier consolidation workpapers while reviewing outsourced bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investor Relations Support: Manage investor-related capital ledgers and data flows, executing accurate Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations and investor distribution processing while serving as the primary liaison to Investor Relations.
- Financial Reporting: Support the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual institutional financial reports, provide ongoing technical accounting research, and manage external CPA firm assurance and tax engagements.

The Ideal Profile
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, featuring a deliberate mix of public accounting foundational training and private sector application (PE, VC, startup, or complex corporate environment)
- Active CPA license
- Deep proficiency in Excel and an aptitude for leveraging modern accounting tech stacks
- A servant leader who is accommodating and analytical, while producing highly precise and accurate work

Salary Range: $90,000-$110,000
