If so, Student Wellness with the Division of Student Affairs at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for a Health Promotion Specialist! This individual plays a key role in advancing student health and well-being through strategic communication, data-informed storytelling, and health promotion initiatives. This position will be hired as a Wellness Program Specialist II.
What You’ll Do:
Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive health promotion programs, initiatives, and interventions
Plan, deliver, and assess trainings, presentations, and educational content that support overall student wellbeing
Provide outreach, support services, and community-building opportunities that promote a healthy campus environment
Lead and coordinate campus-wide initiatives, events, and committees that advance health and wellness efforts
Support the implementation and evaluation of university-wide health promotion strategies and strategic priorities
Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with campus and community stakeholders to advance health promotion efforts
Develop and disseminate educational materials, digital content, and marketing strategies to increase awareness and engagement
Collect, track, analyze, and report data to assess program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement
Student Wellness is hiring for two Health Promotion Specialist positions. While both positions share a common foundation in advancing student wellbeing through health promotion, each role will have a distinct emphasis area. One position will primarily focus on behavioral health initiatives, and the other will focus on violence prevention efforts.
The Health Promotion and Behavioral Health Specialist will focus on alcohol and substance prevention and education, as well as collegiate recovery efforts supporting alcohol, substance and process/behavioral addictions.
The Health Promotion and Violence Prevention Specialist will focus on violence prevention education and outreach. This position includes work in areas such as sexual violence, stalking, and hazing.
Occasional weekend/evening hours will be involved in this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience applying motivational interviewing techniques
Experience utilizing trauma-informed practices
Experience delivering presentations, preferably on health and wellness topics
Experience using tools such as Smartsheet and/or Qualtrics
Experience planning and coordinating events
Experience developing and implementing outreach campaigns to increase program visibility and participation, ideally within wellness or related fields
