JOB VACANCY
LOGAN-HOCKING SCHOOL DISTRICT
CLASSIFIED POSITION: 4-day, 6.5-hour Shared Preschool Attendant, Central Elementary School
SHIFT TIME: 8:25 AM to 3:25 PM (Tuesday-Friday)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associates Degree is preferred, but a high school diploma/GED is acceptable.
- Must hold a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit as defined in section 3319.088 of the O.R.C.
- Non-guilty/non-conviction statement and BCI/FBI check as defined in section 3301-32-02 (B) (C), O.R.C.
- Medical Statement as defined in 3301-37-04 (D), O.R.C. before the first date of employment.
- Obtain First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Prevention training during the first year of employment, and 15 hours of training each year, per ODE Preschool Licensing and 30 Step Up To Quality hours per biennium.
- Must obtain an Ohio Professional Registry on The Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association and meet all Step Up To Quality mandates.
- Complete two (2) required online courses through the Ohio Department of Education. Successfully complete and meet any new standards/rules as defined in 3301-37-04, O.R.C.
- Complete CPI Restraint Training upon request.
- Such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board of Education and/or the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

CONTRACT STATUS: 9 months
TIME SCHEDULE: 6.5 Hour Work Day (30-minute lunch)
COMPENSATION: Attendant Salary Schedule
SHIFT TIMES: 8:25 AM to 3:25 PM (with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)

JOB GOAL:
The job goal or duties described may vary or be amended to meet the needs of the student. Special education attendants work under the overall supervision of the building principal with direct supervision provided by the intervention specialists. They are employed when required to implement special education or related services for a student and/or to provide direct assistance to a student. Their duties will vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of the student's disabilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attendants will:
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Work with other professionals, such as speech therapist, counselor, occupational and physical therapists.
- Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.
- Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
- Help assist with toileting, feeding, and hygiene needs of students if necessary.
- General aide duties when the student is absent.
- Other duties as assigned.
