Key Responsibilities
Responsible for non-US aspects of quarterly and annual global US GAAP tax provision:
- Responsible for completing all non-US provision to return, soft-close provision, and year-end provision procedures.
- Responsible for assessing the appropriateness of all material non-US temporary and permanent differences at all relevant points during the year.
- Responsible for ensuring that all material non-US tax balance sheet positions are materially accurate and supported with appropriate reconciliations and evidence.
- Responsible for maintaining secure access to all critical tax files, tools, and repositories.
- Key participant in quarterly and annual CFO, CAO and Audit Committee Chair tax reviews and responsible for all non-US input into materials provided for review.
- Responsible for providing timely US GAAP provision training and guidance to all relevant reporting unit representatives.
- Responsible for providing appropriate insight and support to the Tax Accounting Lead on all non-US uncertain tax positions and assists with the assessment of whether a reserve is required to be established for such positions.
- Responsible for determining BorgWarner’s position with regards to APB23 and the preparation of detailed quarterly memoranda to support that position.
- Responsible for timely provision of documents to financial auditor and efficient management of quarterly audit procedures related to non-US tax matters.
- Responsible for ensuring broader tax team up to date with regards to changes in tax laws for countries where BorgWarner operates outside of the US.
- Responsible for validation of income tax payable / receivable for non-US units
Responsible for the automation of 90%+ tax adjustments made by all non-US reporting units during soft-close and year-end to drive market leading efficiency within the Company’s US GAAP tax provision process:
- Responsible for developing, executing, and managing a detailed plan to automate tax adjustments, working closely with the tax technology team, the non-US tax team, the local reporting unit representatives, and external advisors (where relevant).
- Leads other continuous improvement efforts with quarterly, soft-close, and annual US GAAP tax provision process, especially in reducing workload of reporting unit representatives.
Responsible for inventory and forecasting of all non-US cash tax payments:
- Responsible for reviewing and validating cash tax forecast and reporting to Treasury.
- Responsible for reporting actual cash taxes paid in Form 10Q/K.
Supports non-US aspects of M&A, tax structuring, and legal entity simplification efforts:
- Responsible for timely non-US tax support to VP Tax & M&A for all M&A, tax structuring, and legal entity simplification efforts.
Supports non-US aspects of tax audit activity:
- Responsible for timely support to VP Tax & M&A for all tax audit activity outside of the US.
Responsible for key attribute review and maintenance
- Responsible for contemporaneous management of US attribute tracking for non-US entities (PTEP, Basis, 986/987/988 positions, etc.)
- Establish repositories for all supporting documentation to confirm current positions.
- Identification of opportunities to monetize attributes.
Co-leads a team of approximately 8 that helps support non-US tax efforts.
- Establishes roles and responsibilities for team that are aligned to the broader tax team.
- Responsible for training, development, assessment, and mentoring of team.
- Responsible for hiring team members and management of staff-related issues.
What we are looking for
- Must have 15+ years of Big Four Public Accounting Firm or with a SEC registered public company with relevant U.S. federal tax and ASC740 experience and must be able to demonstrate a practical application of that experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or CPA required.
- Very strong knowledge of ASC 740.
- Strong knowledge of international U.S. federal tax rules and associated treasury regulations.
- Working knowledge of transfer pricing concepts.
- Must have advanced ability to model tax impacts.
- Must have advanced-level computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint) and must have an ability to appreciate the next generation software (e.g., AI Agents, PowerAutomate, etc).
- Must have a positive, highly analytical, solutions-focused, materiality-led, continuous improvement focused mind-set.
- Must be results focused with a sense of urgency in execution.
- Must have strong project management skills, with experience of leading and motivating internal tax teams and external advisors on complex tax matters.
- Must have experience of a full-outsourced and/or co-sourced compliance model and be able to manage the delivery of returns across numerous providers.
- Must have experience of working as part of a cross-functional team, the ability to build relationships with all levels of the organization, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Must have experience of outlining complex tax issues to senior management.
- Must have strong ethics and values and a proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have professional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be a team player.

Salary Range:
