Case Supervisor - Safe Families for Children

Lutheran Community Services NW is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving communities throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with a wide range of services for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. In 2020, we re-opened our Boise office to strengthen child and family services in the Treasure Valley.  This position supports Safe Families for Children (SFFC), a national, evidence-based child abuse prevention program operating in 150 cities and 30 states. SFFC surrounds families in crisis with caring, trained volunteers who provide short-term hosting for children, mentoring parents, and concrete support while parents stabilize. Our core goals are to:  Prevent child abuse and neglect during times of family crisis.  Create extended support systems that help parents build stability.  Keep families safe together.   Position Summary  The Family Coach provides day-to-day leadership, coordination, and direct support for families engaged in the Safe Families for Children program. This position ensures children, parents, volunteers, and church partners experience safe, consistent, trauma-informed, and relationship-centered care through Safe Families' network of volunteers. This role combines direct support for families and/or young adults, case management, volunteer coaching, host home screening, and community relationship-building. This position may flex to include additional duties based on program needs and seasonal demands. The role also supports the development of volunteer Family Coaches through training and onboarding new volunteers, while offering continued coaching, encouragement, and support to active volunteers serving families.   WHAT WE WILL DO FOR YOU: As an employer of choice, we’re deeply committed to supporting our employees—because when you’re empowered, our mission thrives. We’re proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being, growth, and peace of mind A 37.5 per hour work week to ensure work/life balance Medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits to keep you and your loved ones healthy Employer-paid short- and long-term disability insurance Life insurance coverage at no cost to you Up to 2 weeks of vacation in your first year (based on hours worked) Up to 2 weeks of sick leave (based on hours worked) 12 paid agency recognized holidays  2 floating holidays to use your way 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching (eligibility applies) Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family Potential eligibility for Student Loan Forgiveness through our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status   HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: Primary Responsibilities: Conduct family intakes in person, assess immediate needs, and determine appropriate Safe Families support and referrals.   Provide ongoing direct support, encouragement, and strength-based coaching to parents experiencing crisis or instability.   Maintain regular weekly check-ins with families to assess safety, monitor progress, and strengthen engagement.   Support parents in identifying goals and developing practical stabilization plans related to housing, employment, parenting, recovery, mental health, and family well-being.   Provide case management support through advocacy, referrals, resource navigation, and connections to community services.   Conduct debrief and exit meetings with families to assess outcomes, gather feedback, and support healthy transitions.   Ensure 48-hour safety checks are completed for children placed in volunteer host homes in accordance with Safe Families standards.   Volunteer Leadership & Training  Lead and coordinate Family Coach trainings and support healthy boundaries, trauma informed practice, and strength-based service for volunteers.   Hands-on support of volunteers serving families, including regular weekly contact with active Host Families and Family Coaches.  Provide guidance and oversight to ensure safe, consistent, and relationship-centered support for families.   Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and Ministry Leads to strengthen and support networks of church volunteers.    Host Home Screening & Safety Oversight  Conduct volunteer host home screenings, interviews, home studies, and safety assessments.   Collaborate with Program Manager to ensure host homes meet Safe Families standards.   Monitor placements and maintain communication with Host Families, volunteers, and parents throughout hosting engagements.   Ensure compliance with SFFC National Fidelity standards and LCSNW policies.   Community Outreach & Relationship Building  Build and maintain relationships with community agencies, schools, referral partners, and local churches.   Support presentations, outreach activities, volunteer recruitment, and community awareness efforts.   Partner with churches and community organizations to ensure families are connected to appropriate resources and to strengthen collaborative care for vulnerable families.   Program Support & Administration  Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation and data tracking; including tracking volunteers' activities, time, donations, and other services.  Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts, team meetings, and program planning.   Share limited 24-hour on-call support responsibilities as part of the leadership team when children are placed in host homes overnight.  Support LCSNW staff with events, communications, grant reporting, fundraising activities, stories of hope, and volunteer engagement initiatives as needed.      HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:   Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.   Minimum of 2–4 years of experience working with vulnerable children and families in crisis situations.   Experience in case management, family support, coaching, or child and family services.   Knowledge of trauma-informed care, strengths-based practice, poverty, crisis stabilization, and family systems.   Experience training, supervising, mentoring, or coaching volunteers, interns, or staff preferred.   Strong relationship-building and communication skills with diverse families, volunteers, churches, and community partners.   Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, documentation requirements, and crisis response needs.   Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, mission-driven team with flexibility, creativity, and initiative.   Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in complex family situations.   Experience with faith-based communities and volunteer-driven programs is helpful.   Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database/documentation systems.   Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the Treasure Valley.   Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.   Alignment with the mission, values, and relational approach of Safe Families for Children and LCSNW.    Thank you!  We sincerely appreciate your interest in joining the Lutheran Community Services NW team and thank all applicants for taking the time to apply.
