Summary

SRP’s Transmission & Distribution Applications team is seeking a Senior Application Developer to support key operational functions, including Protection, Automation and Control; Substation Construction and Maintenance; Transmission Planning; Power Quality; and Distribution Planning and Performance.

 

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a variety of internal applications and tools used by SRP employees. Responsibilities include supporting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, such as applications that monitor edge devices (e.g., power quality meters), and integrate with industrial time-series analysis platforms, as well as building custom applications that provide access to and support the maintenance of distribution system data.

What You'll Do

  • Manage off-the-shelf applications and associated. Examples of supported systems include:
    • DNV Cascade & Synergi
    • Doble Powerbase
    • Electrotek PQView
  • Support system integrations using PowerShell and Azure Data Factory.
  • Generate and maintain complex data queries using SQL against Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Build and support custom web applications using HTML and JavaScript that leverage frameworks/libraries such as Angular and React.
  • Support for existing and legacy applications (C# .NET, SQL Server, SSRS).
  • Document software and procedures used for supporting software systems.
  • Build API's using .NET Core and Entity Framework.
  • Provide necessary support for operational applications in secure networks such as the High Security Operations Center (HSOC).

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

Experience

This position may be filled at one of three levels outlined below, based on the candidate’s relevant education, experience, or a combination of both that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Level I — Associate: In lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 4 years may be considered.

Level 2 – Journey: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 6 years may be considered.

Level 3 – Senior: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 9 years may be considered. Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of software, hardware, operating systems & operating environment
  • Knowledge of database design & application web services
  • Development experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Framework (C#)
  • Development experience with SQL Server / SSRS / Power BI reporting
  • Development experience with Snowflake a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task & prioritize work
  • Strong teamwork / collaboration skills
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of development and cyber-security best practices.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
