Job Description
Toro Aluminum Group of Companies is seeking TWO experienced Construction Safety Specialists to support and continuously improve our Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) across active construction sites and subcontracted installation crews.
This is a hands‑on, field‑based existing role ideal for a safety professional who thrives in dynamic construction environments and is passionate about promoting a strong, practical safety culture.
As a key member of our safety team, you will:
Conduct regular construction site visits, complete detailed safety inspections, hazard assessments, and written reports
Identify risks related to installation activities and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions
Lead and document incident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow‑up actions
Review and close out site safety concerns and third‑party inspection findings
Develop and update site‑specific Safe Work Procedures and safety documentation
Deliver engaging, site‑specific safety training for employees and subcontractors
Ensure compliance with provincial legislation, client safety requirements, and Toro safety standards
Maintain safety records including WSIB clearances, training documentation, and inspection reports
Prepare safety dashboards, spreadsheets, and management reports with actionable insights
Participate in and facilitate site safety meetings and toolbox talks
Collaborate with internal departments to support continuous safety improvement initiatives
Build positive working relationships with subcontractors, clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
Post‑secondary Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
Worker Awareness, WHMIS, and Working at Heights certification (required)
Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in a Health & Safety role
At least 2 years of construction industry experience, preferably in high‑rise projects
Strong working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and O. Reg. 213/91 (Construction Projects)
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized and analytical, with strong attention to detail
Proven experience preparing reports, metrics, and safety documentation for management review
Comfortable training, coaching, and mentoring employees and subcontractors
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Teams, OneDrive, and Office 365
Working Conditions & Requirements
Valid Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (required)
Role is primarily outdoors on active construction sites, in all seasons and weather conditions
Physical requirements include climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and ascending/descending stairs
Compensation: $60,000 – $85,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
