Our Rewinders product group in Lucca is looking for a Design Engineer to actively contribute to engineering development. This role involves close collaboration with internal departments and external contractors to ensure all deliveries meet Valmet’s high standards. Quality is at the heart of our engineering work, with a strong focus on identifying non-conformities and standardizing best practices.
Design Engineer supports the engineering team in the development of 3D models, 2D drawings, and material lists (BOM) for delivery projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, standards, and project timelines.
The role focuses on basic engineering and design activities, working under defined processes with support from senior engineers
Your main responsibilities will include:
Executing engineering activities for specific delivery projects, from initiation to the end of the guarantee period, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and budget.
Delivering technical documentation according to project requirements and timelines.
Providing technical assistance to other departments throughout the delivery process.
Keeping the project team and resource owners informed of any changes in schedules or technical aspects.
Actively participating in internal project meetings and reporting to the team leader.
Coordinating technical aspects with other Valmet Business Units involved in the project.
Reporting technical issues using Valmet’s internal systems.
Contributing to R&D projects within the unit.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
University degree in technical engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
At least 3 years of relevant experience.
Ability and determination to learn quickly and to quickly put your knowledge into practice.
Ability to organize yourself and to coordinate with colleagues and team members.
A collaborative mindset and excellent interpersonal skills (ability to network, communicate openly, respect roles).
Proficiency in 3D SolidWorks and PDM systems
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
Good knowledge of most common IT tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Good command of both spoken and written English and Italian.
Experience working in a matrix, multi-cultural, international environment.
