As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will organize the activities and workflow of the Patient Access area. You will be a daily go-to for the team as a first resource for questions and support. You will also shadow in the interview process for new hires and support the onboarding process for new caregivers. Through providing coaching and support to caregivers who help patients, you will help provide the best outcomes possible. This role will allow you to create a foundation in healthcare and explore opportunities at Cleveland Clinic. Your fellow caregivers will encourage you to enhance your skills and explore advanced Customer Service, Clerical or Clinical positions in the future.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area.
Assign tasks and monitor performance of and assist in training patient service representatives.
Screen candidates, recommend hires, conduct performance appraisals and recommend corrective counseling.
Develop, implement and oversee programs to improve appointment utilization such as, reminder, follow-up on no-show/cancellation program.
Coordinate activities and resolve operational problems.
Adjust caregivers, patients and physicians' schedules to respond to operational problems.
Control and audit the reconciliation of day sheets including adjusting statistics in the computer data bank.
Produce reports as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of Cleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or equivalent, including interacting with patients, physicians, and other departments on a problem resolution basis
OR three years of external outpatient scheduling experience, including resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others
OR Associate Degree and one year of experience
OR Bachelor's Degree
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Previous medical office experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
