Job Description

Think start-up energy, backed by enterprise scale.

We are building a modern platform within a global organization—combining the agility, ownership, and engineering freedom of a start-up with the stability and funding of an industry leader. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, international environment where your contributions directly shape real products used at scale.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an Application Support Engineer to support a cloud-native, data-intensive application built on AWS and Databricks. This role is responsible for ensuring application stability, data reliability, and timely incident resolution across production and pre-production environments.

You will act as the first line of defense for application issues, working closely with engineering, data, DevOps, and business teams to troubleshoot problems, restore service, and continuously improve operational resilience.

This role is ideal for someone with strong application support fundamentals who wants exposure to modern cloud and data platforms.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for

Application & Production Support

  • Provide L3 application support for a production AWS + Databricks application.
  • Monitor application health, batch jobs, and data pipelines.
  • Own end-to-end incident resolution for high-severity production incidents (P1/P2).
  • Perform incident triage, root cause analysis (RCA), and issue resolution within defined SLAs.
  • Escalate complex issues to engineering teams with clear diagnostics and impact analysis.
  • Partner with engineering teams to design long-term fixes, not just workarounds.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and production support coverage as required.

Databricks & Data Pipeline Support

  • Monitor and support Databricks jobs, notebooks, and workflows.
  • Validate successful completion of batch and scheduled jobs.
  • Perform basic data validation and reconciliation using SQL, automated scripts.
  • Identify data quality issues and coordinate fixes with data engineering teams.
  • Support reruns and recovery procedures for failed pipelines.

AWS & Environment Support

  • Support applications running on AWS services such as S3, IAM, EC2, Glue, and CloudWatch.
  • Review logs, metrics, and dashboards to identify performance or availability issues.
  • Assist with environment validation after deployments or infrastructure changes.
  • Follow security, access control, and change management processes.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Log and track incidents, problems, and service requests in tools like ServiceNow, Jira.
  • Maintain clear documentation for known issues, workarounds, and runbooks.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and help implement preventive measures, automation and monitoring improvements.
  • Support release activities with smoke testing and production readiness checks.

Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain L3 runbooks, operational playbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose automation or process improvements.
  • Assist in improving monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
  • Contribute to knowledge bases and support documentation.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across functions and geographies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to collect, absorb, and analyze information quickly and independently.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English is a must)
  • High level of engagement
  • Willingness to enter into contract for employment.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.
  • 4-8+ years of experience in application or production support, with L3 ownership
  • Experience supporting cloud-based applications, preferably on AWS.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for troubleshooting and data validation.
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting batch jobs or data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.
  • Exposure to Databricks, Apache Spark, or data engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Shell) for automation or diagnostics.
  • Experience in Agile or DevOps environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL concepts (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
