Job Description:

Location: UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks School, 43 E Stevenson Drive, Glendale Heights, IL

Schedule: August - May (school year)

• Assists students with daily school activities and learning initiatives. 

• Provides or assists with providing direct student care, clinical assessments, and therapeutic interventions

• Observes and records student behaviors and activities

• Reports changes in student conditions to appropriate personnel and recommends treatment plan modifications

• Establishes therapeutic relationships with assigned students

• Works directly with students, school team, family members, and community providers to ensure collaborative and continuous care

• May be required to manage daily group activities

• Assists students to perform routine activities of daily living

• Recognizes potential escalation of behavior and has ability to use appropriate verbal and physical interventions

• Recognizes potential safety hazards, intervenes for the safety of students, visitors and staff and notifies appropriate department or person for correction of the problem

• Utilizing CPI non-restraint verbal de-escalation interventions

• Operates company vehicle as needed

• Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

•Bachelor’s [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ year of other health care related field [Preferred]

• Experience in therapeutic school setting [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]

• Paraprofessional Educator (PARA EDU) [Required] OR State Substitute Teacher Certification (SSTC) [Required]

• Driver’s License (DL) - [Required]

Pay Range:

$18.51 - $29.62
