Corrective Services NSW

Location – Bathurst, Lithgow, Kirkconnell Correctional Centres

Employment type – Ongoing and Temporary Full time positions

Salary – $99,938 - $110,271

Grade – Clerk Grade 5/6

 

Your role

 

This role is responsible for delivering evidence‑based case management to a diverse caseload of offenders, ensuring their individual risks and needs are addressed to maximise rehabilitation opportunities and reduce reoffending.

 

What you’ll do

As a valued member of our dedicated team, you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based case management services to offenders, ensuring all activities align with relevant legislation, policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify risks, needs and strengths, using these to develop personalised case plans that support offenders through their rehabilitation journey.
  • Apply motivational interviewing and strengths‑based approaches to support behavioural change and encourage offender accountability.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external service providers to connect offenders with programs and interventions that best align with their individual case plans.
  • Monitor progress against case plans, ensuring compliance with judicial and departmental requirements, and preparing timely reports and documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support effective reintegration planning and assist offenders in making a successful transition back into the community.

 

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking an individual who brings:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering evidence‑based interventions to diverse offender groups, including those with complex needs.
  • Proficiency in using risk assessments and case management tools to design targeted, outcomes‑focused intervention plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience addressing challenging behaviours using proven behavioural intervention strategies.
  • Sound understanding of contemporary correctional practices, with a commitment to offender rehabilitation and reducing reoffending.
  • Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams to provide cohesive, person‑centred case management support.
  • A current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the relevant Units of Competency or the ability to complete the qualification through the Corrective Services Academy within required timeframes.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in human services or related fields (preferred but not essential).

A talent pool is being created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months. Priority will be given to filling the role at Bathurst, Lithgow, Kirkconnell.
