The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to use hands in order to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally be required to lift/transfer up to 50/70 lbs. alone or occasionally up to 200lbs with the assistance of other staff. General Description:
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide direct assistance, support services, and employment-related supports to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and their families. DSPs support individuals in developing independence, community inclusion, and meaningful life outcomes, including employment. DSPs report directly to and receive regular supervision from their Team Supervisor and/or Department Director.
Minimum Qualifications:

General Description:

DSPs support individuals in developing independence, community inclusion, and meaningful life outcomes, including employment. DSPs report directly to and receive regular supervision from their Team Supervisor and/or Department Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred, or one (1) year of related experience
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, personal vehicle, and current motor vehicle liability insurance required
- Ability to successfully pass required criminal background checks
Job Responsibilities:

- Support individuals (and families when appropriate) in identifying needs, personal goals, and employment interests
- Assist individuals in increasing and/or maintaining independence in their homes, communities, and workplaces
- Support participation in community activities, social opportunities, and relationship building
- Assist individuals with developing social, communication, and self-advocacy skills
- Promote understanding and protection of individual human rights, dignity, and informed choice
- Support individuals in maintaining personal well-being, health, and safety
- Assist with medical, dental, and other appointments as needed
- Support individuals in maintaining benefits and accessing community resources
- Assist with resume development, job searches, and completion of applications
- Provide interview preparation, including coaching and mock interviews
- Provide on-the-job support, including side-by-side coaching when appropriate
- Conduct regular check-ins to support job retention, satisfaction, and performance
- Assist with workplace communication, problem-solving, and building natural supports
- Collaborate with employers, families, and team members to support successful employment outcomes
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain open communication and collaborate with team members
- Complete all required documentation (timesheets, progress notes, ISP tracking, incident reports, etc.) in a timely manner
- Provide reliable, consistent, and person-centered services
- Maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, NCI, Medication Administration, etc.) and complete all required trainings
- Participate in supervision and team meetings as scheduled
- Provide services as directed by families when applicable
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director
