Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

We’re seeking a Lead Fire Services Technician to keep critical fire protection systems compliant, reliable, and operating at the highest standard. You’ll partner with our clients and the HIX team to deliver essential fire maintenance and compliance services using safe systems of work, with strong support for wellbeing and development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire systems in line with AS 1851 (extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, EWIS, sprinklers, passive fire systems, and more)
  • Lead and complete reactive, quoted, and planned maintenance works across client sites
  • Coordinate daily activities with schedulers and service managers to maximise productivity and service delivery
  • Act as a technical lead and “go-to” person for field support, client queries, and team guidance
  • Ensure all compliance documentation, job notes, and reports are completed accurately and on time
  • Liaise with clients onsite, maintaining strong relationships and delivering high-quality service
  • Support estimators with detailed reporting and recommendations following inspections
  • Ensure WHS, quality, and environmental standards are consistently met on every job

 

Your Education, Experience & Skills

  • Relevant Fire Protection qualification or trade background (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in fire services maintenance and compliance (AS 1851)
  • Strong knowledge of fire systems (alarms, suppression, hydrants, passive systems, EWIS)
  • Experience using field service or work order systems (e.g. Uptick or similar)
  • Current White Card and relevant industry licences/certifications (highly regarded)
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to support and guide team members
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage jobs from start to completion
  • Full working rights in Australia (essential)
