What You Can Expect
- Simulate and design active and passive photonic integrated components, circuits and high-bandwidth photonic systems
- Translate device operational specifications into mask layouts
- Drive tape-out activities including layout verification, DRC, and documentation
- Contribute to software development and maintenance for simulation and mask layout tools, including PDK
- Testing and characterization of resulting components, qualification of components/integrated circuits
- Analyze and interpret measurement data, comparing experimental results with simulations to optimize device performance.
- Root cause and failure analysis of components and integrated circuits
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry experience in a high-tech engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of silicon photonics, semiconductor physics, optical component design, fabrication, and testing.
- Strong background in optical communications or high-frequency electrical/electro-optical characterization (>40 GHz).
- Hands-on experience in photonic device characterization and testing in a development environment; high-speed testing background preferred.
- Experience with advanced packaging or 2.5D/3D integration in optical platforms is a plus.
In-depth experience and expertise in:
- Photonic electromagnetic field simulations (Lumerical preferred) .
- RF PCB design and RF electromagnetic field simulation (HFSS preferred).
- Code-based mask layout design for photonic ICs (Synopsys preferred), including experience with external PDKs, libraries, and DRC. Design and tape-out experience with multiple foundries is a plus.
