Overview:
We are seeking a Mission Support Staff Member to provide a blend of divisional business operations support and training coordination for the Transportation and Waste Management Division (TWMD). This role is split approximately 50/50: serving as the division training officer and providing mission support for the Environmental and Transportation Management Systems.
Mission support responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assessment and issue tracking, process improvement initiatives, and records management ensuring the efficient processing, maintenance, retrieval, and dissemination of electronic records in accordance with established records management policies and procedures.
This position is within the TWMD in the Environmental Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Act as Division Training Officer (DTO) for TWMD
- Advise staff in use of ORNL Learning Management System (LMS).
- Maintain position training matrix forms for each technical position within the division.
- Advise and collaborate with division staff to solve problems with training registrations, withdrawals, exceptions, revocations, and other technical problems and customer needs, while adhering to Training and Qualification Management System requirements
- Advise staff, regulators and auditors on the requirements for documentation and processing of technical training records and forms
- Collaborate with SMEs to compile data, and prepare spreadsheets, procedures, forms, reports, plans, and presentation materials.
- Support records management activities, ensuring proper maintenance, retrieval, and dissemination of electronic files.
- Support documentation and data collection using ORNL systems, including:
- Enterprise Document and Record Management (EDRM)
- Assessment and Commitment Tracking System (ACTS)
- Standards-Based Management System (SBMS)
- SuccessFactors
- SharePoint
- Assist with SharePoint site maintenance and updates.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in business administration, business analytics, financial management or a related field is required.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to collect, organize, and compile varied data into reports, plans, and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with strong knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Experience with ORNL’s systems, including ACTS, EDRM, LMS, and SuccessFactors.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, computer, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to adjust to changing priorities
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

Security, Credentialing, and Eligibility Requirements:
For employment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), a Real ID compliant form of identification will be required. Additionally, ORNL is subject to Department of Energy (DOE) access restrictions. All employees must also be able to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card as mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, which requires a favorable post-employment background investigation.
To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.

If you have not resided in the U.S. for three consecutive years, you are not eligible for the PIV credential and instead will need to obtain a favorable Local Site Specific Only (LSSO) risk determination to maintain employment.
