Role Purpose:
This role focuses on analyzing and managing credit risk within CMBS investments. Responsibilities include underwriting commercial real estate loans, building financial models to assess asset performance, identifying portfolio risks, and supporting investment decision-making through presentations and market insights.
What you will do:
Underwrite and perform credit analysis on loan collateral across all major property types within CMBS securitizations (e.g., SASB, Agency, Conduit, CRE CLO) for both new issue and seasoned transactions.
Determine deal and loan-level risk ratings, assist in identifying risk assets across the portfolio to monitor performance and provide periodic asset management updates.
Create and edit financial models to determine base and bear case commercial real estate (CRE) asset valuations and perform sensitivity analysis.
Help prepare investment committee and quarterly asset review presentation materials.
Track issuer/industry trends and macroeconomic events which could impact portfolio holdings.
Will travel 5-10% domestically.
What you should have:
College (BS/BA) degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
3-5 years of work experience years in a real estate, credit, or investment banking role, including real estate acquisitions, real estate credit, M&A or advisory investment banking, debt capital markets, leveraged finance, or other credit-focused roles. Familiarity with commercial real estate or structured finance is a plus. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel-based financial modeling.
Strong grasp of financial statement analysis, CRE debt, and valuation concepts.

Strong interpersonal skills: exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
Applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) investing and/or asset management.
Experience with all major commercial real estate (CRE) property types (i.e., Office, Retail, Multifamily, Hotel, Industrial, etc.) in markets across the country.
Solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions and industry terms.
In-depth knowledge of third-party market data platforms (e.g., Trepp, Intex, Costar, REIS, RCA, Bloomberg).
Familiarity working with and analyzing real estate and securitization documents (e.g., appraisals, mortgages, prospectuses, asset summary reports).
