Job Description
The ELA & History instructor will promote a safe and nurturing environment, and will maintain high expectations for student success.
ELA & History Curriculum Objectives:
Develop and implement ELA Education curriculum for the Early Secondary programs (7th & 8th Grade)
Establish and maintain a classroom culture that encourages respect, exploration, responsibility, cooperation, and intellectual growth
Plan and implement field trips, as needed
Instructional Support Objectives:
Support student learning as needed
Supervise and support student mealtime, encouraging healthy eating as well as table manners
Supervise and support student recess, encouraging appropriate play
Assist with field trips, as needed
The ELA & History Instructor will ensure that students are safe and meeting grade level expectations, and will collaborate with parents to enhance student achievement.
Student and Family Support Objectives:
Maintain responsibility for student safety and physical well being at all times
Regularly monitor student progress and provide feedback for academic and social growth
Complete paperwork needed to support student development
Attend Student Support meetings as needed
Provide extra support as needed to incoming students and their families
Attend parent/teacher/student conferences if requested, to provide feedback on student progress
Respond in a timely manner to all parent inquiries
Attend and assist with the production of school performances, as needed
Maintain accurate student records, and assist in completing Student Progress Reports
The ELA & History instructor will make an active contribution to maintain a collegial working environment, and will support the mission of the May Sands Montessori School.
May Sands Montessori Staff Community Objectives:
Collaborate regularly with the Instructional Team to implement a cohesive educational program
Attend regularly scheduled Staff Meetings
Attend various Professional Development offerings, with a focus on those that promote student achievement in a Montessori environment
Help promote favorable public relations for the School in the community
Eligibility for Florida Department of Education certification is required. FLDOE certification in Social Science 5-9, English 5-9, and ESOL Endorsement is a prerequisite for teaching in field.
