Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Road Tunnel Systems Integration to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of tunnel systems on major road tunnel project. In this role, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end integration of all tunnel systems—civil, MEP, ITS, controls, and life‑safety—ensuring they operate as a fully integrated, safe, and reliable system that meets client, regulatory, and Parsons’ quality requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead the tunnel systems integration scope from design through testing, commissioning, and handover.
Develop and implement integration strategies, plans, and milestones in line with contract and project objectives.
Coordinate all tunnel systems, including:
Ventilation and smoke control
Power distribution and lighting
Fire detection and suppression
SCADA and tunnel management systems
ITS, traffic management, and incident detection
Communications, radio rebroadcast, CCTV, and security
Drainage, pumping, and environmental monitoring
Manage interface control documents, system interface matrices, and integration risk registers.
Oversee design reviews, constructability reviews, and integration risk assessments.
Lead Factory Acceptance Tests FATFAT, Site Acceptance Tests SATSAT, System Integration Tests SITSIT, and trial operations.
Align testing and commissioning activities with client, operator, and authority requirements for tunnel opening.
Drive resolution of integration issues between civil works, MEP, systems, contractors, and external stakeholders.
Monitor schedule, cost, and risk for the systems integration scope; implement mitigation and recovery actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, IEC, EN, local authority requirements).
Produce clear technical reports, status updates, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and coordinators.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Civil, or related discipline).
Typically 12−15 years of relevant experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
Significant experience on road or rail tunnel projects, with a focus on systems and life‑safety.
Demonstrated experience managing complex systems integration on multi‑disciplinary projects (tunnels, metros, ITS, or similar).
Proven track record in integrated testing, commissioning, and successful system handover/opening.
Strong understanding of tunnel ventilation, life‑safety systems, SCADA, and ITS/traffic management systems.
Experience working within EPC/Design‑Build and/or PMC/Owner’s Engineer environments.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent planning, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal); additional languages are an advantage.
Ability to coordinate complex technical documentation and multi‑contract interfaces.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
Project Management Professional PMP or equivalent certification.
Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer status.
Previous experience on major international tunnel or highway projects.
