Job Description

The role involves interaction with various units locally and overseas. The Associate 2 should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment. Accuracy, timeliness and delivery of client service are imperative in this position with increased focus towards quality controls, documentation and process improvements.

1. Role Overview

The Financial Reporting Associate 2 is responsible for preparing financial statements and regulatory reporting outputs for Australian clients, including superannuation funds, managed investment schemes, and investment entities. The role supports APRA regulatory reporting (e.g., SRF 550/552/553), AASB/IFRS-compliant financial statements, and audit/client reporting cycles.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Financial Statements & Disclosures:
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with AASB/IFRS
- Draft disclosures (fair value, financial instruments, investment entities)
- Perform GL review and reconciliations

B. APRA Regulatory Reporting:
- Prepare APRA returns (SRF 550/552/553/320/330/720)
- Reconcile APRA returns to financial statements
- Perform data validation and consistency checks

C. Reporting Cycle Management:
- Maintain reporting  documentation
- Manage deadlines and reporting timelines
- Coordinate with accounting, tax and other internal teams

D. Issue Resolution:
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues
- Analyse differences between GL, FS, and APRA returns

E. Audit & Client Support:
- Prepare audit working papers
- Respond to auditor queries
- Address client comments
 

F. Controls & Quality:
- Execute reporting checklists
- Maintain audit-ready documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal controls

G. Systems & Process Improvement:
- Use reporting systems (e.g., FundSuite ARC, ESP)
- Identify automation opportunities

H. Team Contribution:
- Support A1 staff
- Contribute to team improvements

3. Education & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
- CA/CPA (or working towards) preferred
- 1–3 years experience in financial reporting or fund accounting

4. Key Skills

- Knowledge of AASB/IFRS
- APRA reporting knowledge desirable
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
