Baptist Health is hiring a Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist for our Downtown location in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time day shift opportunity.
At Baptist Health, a Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care services while supporting the daily operations of the Respiratory Therapy department during their assigned shift. This role serves as a clinical resource for staff, assists with workflow coordination, supports onboarding and training efforts, and helps ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily activities and workflow of the Respiratory Therapy department during the assigned shift.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for Respiratory Therapists, students, and other team members.
- Precept and orient new employees and respiratory therapy students.
- Perform daily staffing assignments in the absence of the Supervisor or Manager.
- Receive and coordinate coverage for sick calls and staffing shortages.
- Adjust staffing levels based on patient census, including calling staff off during low-census periods when appropriate.
- Assess, treat, and care for patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapy treatments and medications.
- Monitor and manage patients requiring respiratory support, including mechanical ventilation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist Education & Credential Requirements:
- Certificate Required
- Associate of Science Preferred
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Required – Florida Department of Health (FL DOH)
- One of the following certifications is required within six (6) months of hire:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
