
Night Crew Supervisor
Job Description
The Night Crew Supervisor is responsible for leading overnight stocking operations, ensuring the store is fully stocked, properly merchandised, and ready for opening each day. This role supervises the night crew team, drives productivity, and maintains store standards while ensuring safety, organization, and efficiency throughout overnight operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesOvernight Operations
- Supervise nightly stocking activities including unloading deliveries, stocking shelves, and product rotation
- Ensure all freight is worked efficiently and completed within scheduled timelines
- Maintain accurate inventory flow from backroom to sales floor
- Prepare the store for opening with fully stocked, faced, and organized aisles
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train, and supervise night crew employees
- Assign tasks, set expectations, and monitor productivity throughout shifts
- Coach team members on stocking standards, safety, and efficiency
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment
Merchandising & Store Standards
- Ensure shelves are properly stocked, faced, and aligned with planograms
- Verify pricing accuracy, signage, and promotional execution
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized aisles, backroom, and work areas
- Identify and correct out-of-stocks and merchandising opportunities
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety procedures, including equipment use and lifting practices
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards
- Monitor for hazards and maintain a safe overnight work environment
Inventory & Backroom Management
- Oversee backroom organization and product staging
- Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO) and handling procedures
- Assist with inventory counts and shrink reduction efforts
Operational Support
- Communicate updates, issues, and progress with store leadership
- Support labor planning by ensuring efficient use of overnight hours
- Assist other departments as needed to ensure store readiness
- Previous grocery, stocking, or retail experience preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in an overnight environment
- Physically able to lift, stock, and move product (40–60 lbs)
