
Product Designer (Creator) - TikTok UX (San Jose)
Job Description
Team Introduction The TikTok UX team is responsible for creator product design for the TikTok app. With our key vertical ownership areas including creator tools, monetization, traffic & growth, OGC, and TV. The team provides specialized design methodologies and practices to help creators improve their authoring experience and efficiency.
We are looking for designers with passion and ideas for video products and full-stack capabilities. You will work, learn and grow in an internationalized corporate environment and culture. You will be involved in the whole chain process of product design and development, starting from a product idea, exploring and iterating the design, tracking and reviewing the effect of the project on-line, and taking responsibility for the experience of global users.
Responsibilities:
- Design intuitive and engaging experiences for TikTok's professionally generated content (PGC) platform, aimed at a global user base.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX researchers, writers, and engineers, to bring product ideas to life.
- Participate in the full product development lifecycle—from conceptualization to final pixel-perfect execution—ensuring design excellence at every stage.
- Rapidly prototype new ideas, design user flows informed by data and user research, gather feedback from stakeholders, iterate quickly, and deliver high-quality experiences.
- Continuously refine and improve the overall product experience, taking ownership of usability, consistency, and user satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in UX and UI design with a strong portfolio showcasing multiple projects taken from concept to launch. Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to rapidly generate and iterate on a wide range of design concepts and solutions.
- Receptive to feedback and open to different perspectives; demonstrates patience and adaptability.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions, ideas, and user value.
- Global outlook with an interest in international digital products and user behavior.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience designing UX across mobile, web, or TV platforms, particularly in content creation or media consumption contexts.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and data-informed design practices.
- Experience collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Skills in front-end development or animation are a plus.
- Positive, adaptable, and energized by TikTok’s creative culture and fast-moving environment.
