We are looking for a technically skilled and customer-focused Service Engineer to join our Technical Support team. In this role, you will act as a key link between customers, service, sales, and engineering teams, helping ensure our cryogenic and technical systems operate at peak performance. Your tasks will include responding to and troubleshooting customer service inquiries, working directly with external customers and internal teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues. You will read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions to support assembly, installation, and repair activities. You will identify equipment malfunctions, procure or recommend replacement parts, and work through root-cause troubleshooting to restore system functionality. You will test units using standard test equipment, analyze performance results, and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation. You will assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or system components using hand tools and technical documentation. You will also adjust or replace defective components as needed and ensure equipment meets engineering specifications. In addition, you may travel to customer sites to perform commissioning, repairs, or field service support, ensuring timely and professional resolution of technical issues.
Main Responsibilities include the following:
Fielding and troubleshooting customer service inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions to assemble and service equipment.
Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions, including coordinating with customers or field representatives to obtain replacement parts when needed.
Testing units using standard test equipment and analyzing results to assess performance and determine required adjustments.
Adjusting or replacing defective or improperly functioning circuitry or components using appropriate hand tools and techniques.
Assembling, testing, and maintaining circuitry and components according to engineering specifications, technical manuals, and established procedures.
Visiting customer sites as needed to repair, commission, or support equipment in the field.
Performing other duties as assigned to support the technical service function.
What We Expect from You:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Field, or related discipline; or an Associate degree with at least three years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to apply engineering principles in a practical environment.
Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, gauges, and similar diagnostic tools.
Strong critical thinking, active listening, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Prior experience in field service, technical support, or manufacturing environments.
Exposure to cryogenic systems, vacuum systems, or complex electromechanical equipment.
Experience working with cross-functional engineering, sales, or service teams.

Ability to perform physical job requirements, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands and fingers; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching; and lifting up to 25 lbs regularly, with up to 50 lbs occasionally in manufacturing environments.
Visual capabilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Experience working in both office and manufacturing environments with exposure to moving mechanical parts, temperature variations, airborne particles, vibration, and electrical hazards while adhering to PPE requirements.

Location: Syracuse, NY
Pay range: $63,000–$77,000 (DOE)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and use hand and finger dexterity. The employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. In an office setting, the employee may occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments and requires travel to customer sites. The employee interacts with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining confidentiality as needed. Standard office equipment is routinely used, including computers and communication tools. In manufacturing and field environments, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, temperature variations, fumes, and moderate noise levels. Mandatory PPE must be worn as required.
