Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Human Resources Business Partner is a strategic and execution-focused business partner who, in close collaboration with key stakeholders and HR leadership, is responsible for the development of a people strategy that helps client groups deliver sustainable results. Through a deep background in HR generalist practices, solid understanding of global workforce regulations, and expertise in talent management, this role helps ensure that the HR strategy and processes are implemented effectively to drive strong results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with the appropriate executive global business leaders to provide strategic direction and tactical support in delivering HR solutions on talent and organizational imperatives.
- Build an understanding of clients’ challenges and their human capital needs to be able to actively contribute to the development of the business strategy.
- Provide leadership and guidance in the acquisition, development and retention of talent, working closely with the appropriate HR CoE teams such as Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Learning and Development.
- Manage, address and resolve complex employee relations concerns, including conducting thorough and objective investigations.
- Lead talent assessment and succession planning discussions to ensure a strong and ready bench.
- Advise and guide on performance management and improvement, development planning and compensation planning.
- Apply judgment to data insights, analytics and trends to support business decisions that drive organizational effectiveness.
- Inspire, coach, motivate and evaluate team members to enable their capabilities and accomplish priorities.
- Continually monitor the pulse of employees and develop programs that build motivation, engagement and retention. Analyze and report on the effectiveness of these strategies and programs.
- Take a leadership role in creating a respectful and inclusive work environment while role-modeling West’s values.
- Develop, implement, interpret and monitor HR policies, procedures and programs for effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a change champion, helping disseminate/interpret necessary communication, information and updates to client groups.
- Lead or contribute to HR projects that are aligned with business needs and organizational objectives.
- Keep current on laws/regulations and external trends, developments or activities that could impact talent, organizational effectiveness, culture and leadership development.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, business or related field or equivalent experience required
- Master's Degree or MBA preferred
Work Experience
- 10+ years of professional experience
- 5+ years in HR within a global, highly-matrixed or high-change environment of relevant, progressive work experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or Manufacturing industries preferred.
- High level of interpersonal skills, organizational skills and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority.
- Work autonomously in a virtual environment, managing multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent and sound judgment in making decisions and resolving complex challenges. Make decisions with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, policies and business practices to achieve results.
- Solid understanding of employee relations and disciplinary processes.
- Ability to resolve challenges across all levels of the organization while demonstrating respect and being candid even in the most difficult situations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships at all levels.
- Strong customer focus by following through on commitments.
- Understand all relevant SOPs as per company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
- Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target.
- Able to comply with the company’s safety and quality policies at all times.

License and Certifications
- Human Resources\PHR, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)-HRCI or SHRM-CP preferred
Additional Requirements
- Ability to occasionally travel locally, regionally and internationally.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with written and oral skills, make quick decisions, interpret data, read and write, speak in front of groups, express and exchange ideas, understand direction and adhere to procedures.
