The Opportunity
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking Academic Advisor I to provide visionary leadership. This position serves as a trusted resource for students, providing academic guidance, personalized degree planning, and proactive outreach to promote retention, persistence, and timely degree completion. The ideal candidate is student-focused, highly organized, and committed to delivering exceptional service in a dynamic higher education environment.
Key Responsibilities
Advise students on degree requirements, academic policies, curriculum planning, registration, transfer credit evaluations, and graduation requirements.
Develop personalized degree plans and monitor student progress to support academic success and timely degree completion.
Provide proactive outreach to students through phone, email, text, and virtual meetings to promote engagement, retention, and persistence.
Support students experiencing academic challenges by developing success plans and connecting them with appropriate resources.
Serve as a liaison between students and university departments, including Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, Military and Veteran Affairs, the Registrar, and other campus support services.
Maintain accurate student records and documentation within university systems.
Analyze student records, resolve enrollment and academic issues, and assist with student success and retention initiatives.
Promote scholarships, institutional aid programs, student engagement opportunities, and university resources.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to address student concerns and support positive academic outcomes.
Deliver exceptional customer service while managing a diverse caseload of students.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this role is up to $43,888. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field.
Required Experience
One to three years of experience in academic advising, student services, higher education, counseling, customer service, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to build relationships and effectively support diverse student populations.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize student information systems and other technology platforms.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Commitment to student success, engagement, and retention.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education, academic advising, student success, retention, enrollment services, or a related student-facing role.
Familiarity with student information systems, learning management systems, or customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.
Experience working with adult learners, online students, military-affiliated students, or other diverse student populations.
