Investment Research Analyst - Halifax

Our growing investment practice is looking for a talented, hardworking Investment Research Analyst to be based in our Halifax office, serving Eckler’s clients across the country. 

The investment consultants provide advice to a wide range of pension (defined benefit and defined contribution), foundation/endowment, and other institutional investment clients. The team helps with all aspects of our clients’ investment strategy including investment policy development, asset liability modelling, portfolio structuring (including traditional and alternative assets), plan design, manager selection, performance monitoring, manager research, and compliance. The analyst group is at the heart of the practice, building customized reports and conducting all research required by our clients.

We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills who can fit into a tightly knit team and can effectively deal with competing priorities in a busy consulting practice. The individual in this role will become a subject matter expert and a key member of the investment team, making meaningful contributions to our clients.

Role and Responsibilities

Performance Monitoring & Client Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly and ad-hoc client performance reports, integrating data into proprietary reporting systems. 
  • Track and analyze investment performance, organizational changes, and strategy developments for existing managers. 
  • Maintain up-to-date client exposure data and assist in report production for client deliverables. 
  • Promote continuous improvement in processes and reporting, proactively identifying opportunities for enhancements.
  • Passion for investing and for helping Eckler's clients make optimal investment decisions.

 Manager Research

  • Support the execution of Eckler’s investment research process across public and private markets. 
  • Conduct due diligence on investment managers, including qualitative and quantitative assessments. 
  • Prepare and maintain detailed research notes, manager summaries, and assessment templates in alignment with Eckler’s internal framework. 
  • Contribute to quarterly and ad hoc research reports, including manager updates and industry insights.  
  • Participate in internal research meetings and synthesize insights for dissemination to consultants and clients. 
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a passion for financial markets and investment research, continually seeking to improve understanding of market trends and manager strategies.

 What you offer

  • Undergraduate degree with finance, investment or a math focus
  • University co-op / summer work experience within finance/investment industry preferred
  • Enrollment in the CFA program or similar preferred
  • Good analytical abilities and Excel proficiency
  • Enthusiastic contributor with strong collaboration skills
  • Looking to have fun!
  • 1-3 years of financial industry experience
  • Experience or qualifications in financial risk management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
