The Opportunity 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Business Analyst to join Aviva Business, supporting the delivery of strong business performance through data-driven insights and effective stakeholder collaboration. The role involves gathering and documenting business requirements, producing and analyzing performance data, and supporting business initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the ABI portfolio. You will work closely with colleagues across underwriting, operations, and other key teams to help drive informed decision-making and enhance customer outcomes. 

The role offers a great opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of the business, develop analytical and technical skills, and build strong working relationships across Aviva. The successful individual will be supported in developing their system knowledge and business analysis capabilities, working with data from multiple sources to produce clear, meaningful insights for stakeholders. 

 What you’ll do  

  • Support day‑to‑day operations, including mailbox monitoring, triage, and responding to user inquiries within defined SLAs. 

  • Create business requirements documentation for small enhancements and defect fixes aligned with BAU work. 

  • Translate business issues, challenges, and objectives into clear, high‑quality technical documentation. 

  • Recommend alternative solutions or workarounds for front‑end users when appropriate. 

  • Maintain a structured cadence for requirements gathering, including updating JIRA status throughout the lifecycle. 

  • Identify dependencies and business process impacts resulting from system changes. 

  • Identify and recommend process improvements within the department. 

  • Support system testing and user acceptance testing (including occasional off‑hours), track change progress, and report on status. 

  • Collaborate closely with team members and cross‑functional partners to ensure accurate, up‑to‑date system information. 

 What you’ll bring  

  • 1–2 years of experience in business analysis, operations support, or a customer service–related role. 

  • Commercial insurance and/or underwriting experience is an asset. 

  • Strong ability to prioritize and execute in a fast‑paced environment. 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users and lead walkthroughs or training sessions. 

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. 

  • Experience with JIRA and Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). 

  • Familiarity with industry tools and best practices (e.g., Agile, JIRA, Confluence). 

  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities and deadlines. 

  • College or university degree/diploma in Business Administration, Computer Technologies, or a related field. 

 What you’ll get 

 

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $74,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
