Senior Media Design Engineer

The Senior Media Design Engineer is a member of the bespoke event spaces and media environments as a supporting contributor to the support of client design and implementation projects. The Media Design Engineer reports directly to the Northeast Media Engineering Director.  The Media Engineer will provide support through the design project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to construction administration support. As a technical resource on a project team, you will be instrumental in the determination and execution of client and system requirements and will collaborate with support teams to bring your design to life. Through our groundbreaking workflow, you’ll have access to incredible technology and tools to help you articulate and deliver your design while being supported by global resources.     What part will you play?  Contributor for complex engagements and works directly with clients and the Design Engineering team to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations.  Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements  Provide specific engineering capabilities in the design and deployment of Media Supply Chain, MAM/PAM/DAM, ingest, NLE Platforms, Motion Graphics, Post Production Operations, Network operations, Accelerated File Transfer, Cloud Storage, Transcoding/Confirming/Framerate conversion, Captioning, Playout Services and Live Remote Transmissions. Provide technical expertise and coordination information to support the architecture, installation and planning of electronic security solutions  Develop project estimates and proposals  Develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation  Develop detailed 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC drawings.  Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients.  DE may have client interaction and contribute to the P and L performance.  Project lifecycle is important and learning the standards our clients are comfortable with is just as important as selling new technology and solutions where they fit. The position bears the responsibility to develop long lasting client partnerships & work with team members to maintain the account on all levels.  Maintains expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars and educational forums. May author articles and/or analyze trends.  Provides direction and counsel to junior personnel in engineering projects and guides issue resolution.  Attend appropriate manufacturer trainings, attend or lead lunch and learns and continue online education.   Complexity:    The Media DE will work with the other DE’s and Sales Leadership on resource assignment and needs. This role may be billable in a post-sales capacity, though there are times when the Media DE will work on presales or program efforts, team management and general administration. The Media DE team will work on the most complex systems, the most complex client needs and the largest projects.     Physical Demands:    The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee.  Work will normally be performed within normal office conditions and/or home office depending on location of Media DE. On occasions the employee may be exposed to construction site conditions. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usually required on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 50% of their time on their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls required for SI installation projects.  Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision.     Travel:    Occasional travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver’s license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate.    What do we require from you?    Education/Certifications:  High school diploma or GED required  Associates degree required and/or equivalent experience.  Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM and MS Office 365  Certifications or training within Milestone and Lenel required  Certifications or training with in Genetec, Avigilon and S2 preferred  Bachelor’s degree preferred   Other relevant certifications may be required or preferred based on the technology focus of the position.   Required/Knowledge, Experience and Skills:  5+ years of experience in technical systems designing  A clear understanding of project phases Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning.  A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications.     Preferred:  Detailed oriented, independent, self-starter  Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines  Excellent communication skills  Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages  High level of problems solving and technical troubleshooting skills
