Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an Energy Coach with 2+ years of experience to join our team. This role is central to supporting energy efficiency programs in the Pacific Northwest, with a primary focus on Strategic Energy Management (SEM). The Energy Coach will work with multiple commercial building owners and occupants to help identify and implement Operations and Maintenance (O&M) strategies that drive energy savings. A key aspect of this role is managing multiple program participants and projects, ensuring strong coordination, follow-through, and accountability.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, highly organized, and eager to learn. They will have experience engaging customers, leading energy conversations, and supporting organizations in adopting sustainable energy practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage multiple participants and projects, tracking deliverables, coordinating efforts, and ensuring deadlines and savings goals are met.
Facilitate discussions and coaching sessions, guiding participants through best practices in energy efficiency and building system operations and maintenance.
Coordinate facility audits and on-site evaluations to assess energy efficiency opportunities and make actionable recommendations.
Lead customer outreach and engagement, fostering relationships with building owners and occupants to drive participation and sustained energy savings. Recruit new program participants and attend occasional trade shows/conferences.
Analyze building energy use patterns to help identify practical efficiency measures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and operations, to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Stay informed on industry trends and standards to provide up-to-date guidance and recommendations.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and next steps for clients.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
Minimum two (2) years of experience in energy efficiency, building science, program coordination, or sustainability.
A university degree in a relevant field (e.g., energy management, sustainability, engineering, or building science) is preferred but not required.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Basic understanding of building systems (HVAC, lighting, boilers, controls, etc.) and their impact on energy efficiency.
Familiarity with energy codes and standards (ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, etc.).
Ability to conduct fieldwork and interact with clients in a professional and responsive manner.
Excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and coach participants effectively.
Strong organizational and coordination skills, with experience managing multiple participants and projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with data analysis using MS Excel and other business applications (MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Must have reliable transportation, as travel to customer sites is required. Travel is typically within the state and often does not require overnight stay.
Licenses & Certifications
Technical credentials are a plus, such as Building Operator Certification (BOC Level 1 or 2), Engineer in Training (EIT-FE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
Valid driver’s license
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel up to 20%.
