The ELCA is a community of faith that has a vision of a world experiencing the difference God’s grace and love in Christ makes for all people and creation. Our faith is built around a strong belief in God as made known to us in Jesus Christ.

Through worship, service, and education, we practice our faith, grow our relationship with God and experience God's grace in our lives. We also work hard to put our faith into action.

In today’s complex world, we strive to make a positive changes in practical, realistic ways so more people know the way of Jesus and discover community, justice and love.

We are one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with nearly 3.3 million members in more than 9,000 worshiping communities across the 50 states and in the Caribbean region. The ELCA’s roots are in the writings of the German church reformer Martin Luther.
