Business Development Manager
Job Description
To act as the central control and governance layer for Business Development, ensuring disciplined
execution, accurate tracking, timely follow-ups, and complete visibility of pipeline across all regions.
The role is critical to ensuring that BD activities are structured, tracked, and effectively converted,
without dependency on individuals.
A. CRM & Data Ownership
Own and manage the BD tracking system (CRM / Excel + Power BI)
Ensure:
o Data accuracy
o Completeness
o No duplication
Maintain structured data across:
o Prospects
o Contacts
o Actions
B. Follow-up & Action Control (MOST CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITY)
Track all:
o Next actions
o Follow-up timelines
Proactively follow up with:
o Regional BD Executives (RBDE)
o Regional Managers (RM)
Ensure:
o No missed follow-ups
o Timely closure of actions
C. Pipeline Monitoring & Control
Maintain real-time visibility of:
o All prospects
o Pipeline stages
Identify:
o Stalled opportunities
o High-priority prospects
Ensure continuous movement across pipeline stages
D. Stuck Case Management
Identify opportunities with no movement (7–10 days)
Diagnose root causes:
o Lack of follow-up
o Client response issues
o Internal gaps
Drive resolution through:
o RBDE
o RM
Escalate only critical or strategic cases to Senior Lead
E. Governance & Review Support
Prepare:
o Weekly BD review reports
o Overdue action tracker
o Top opportunity list
Ensure:
o Data readiness before reviews
o Structured inputs for decision-making
F. Coordination
Support scheduling of:
o Client meetings
o Internal discussions
Ensure alignment between:
o RBDE
o RM
o Proposal team
G. Reporting & Insights
Generate:
o Weekly summaries
o Monthly BD performance reports
Highlight:
o Risks
o Gaps
o Pipeline trends
- Ownership of client engagement and relationships remains with RBDE and RM
- Engage in primary client-facing BD
- Own client relationships
- Lead commercial discussions or negotiations
- Replace RBDE or RM responsibilities
- Ability to enforce BD discipline across regions and stakeholders without direct authority
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders
- Strong follow-up discipline
Experience: 9-12 years in Business Development operations, Sales operations, or Client Engagement roles (preferably in Cost management, Construction, Project management or Professional Services).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil preferred) And Postgraduate qualification from NICMAR (or equivalent).
