POSITION PROFILE
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Learning Campus, develop and conduct environmental education programs, assist with educational programs and perform associated day to day operations tasks.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
- Develop educational content and activities
- Facilitate educational programs in classrooms and outdoors.
- Develop and organize group program itineraries.
- Provide confirmation and program details to group contact.
- Coordinate resources including materials and staff for programs.
- Establish safety protocols and maintain equipment.
- Manage program inventory including ordering and auditing.
- Plan monthly calendar.
- Maintain online calendars.
- Support marketing through creative development of flyers, social media, and other marketing avenues.
- Collaborate with Gulf State Park naturalist team.
- Assists in the planning and preparation of educational programs with regard to the environment, that help people understand the importance of nature conservation.
- Create nature hikes, classroom discussions, and lectures to teach the public about aspects of nature conservation.
- Prepare presentations on environmental conservation and present to guests on behalf of the company.
- Must have an enthusiastic, courteous, positive attitude and team spirit.
- Conduct on-site educational programs to a variety of audiences.
- Respond to questions and comments in a timely manner and in a manner which creates interest in environmental conservation.
- Establishes positive relationships with the community and guests.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's Degree in park management, forestry, wildlife management, biological sciences or related field
- Experience in planning, organizing or conducting environmental programs and activities
- Self motivated and passionate about all components of the environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to receive and implement strategic directions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Limited bending to pick up debris from hotel property.
- Movement through park for programs/tours 50%
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Lift, pull, push, bend, and move items to support the hotel and outlets
