How you’ll contribute
As the Health Information Management Technician, you will excel in this role:
- Review medical records for completeness and accuracy, identifying, tracking, and resolving chart deficiencies in accordance with regulatory standards and medical staff requirements.
- Assign documentation deficiencies to appropriate providers and monitor completion to ensure timely closure and compliance with Joint Commission and hospital standards.
- Support physician documentation workflows, including dictation system support, monitoring late dictations, and assisting with record completion and follow-up.
- Perform health information management functions including scanning, indexing, filing, retrieval, and maintenance of medical records within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Process and release medical records to physicians, patients, hospitals, and external agencies in accordance with HIPAA regulations and release of information guidelines.
- Provide clerical and administrative support, including answering phones and assisting physicians, patients, families, and healthcare staff while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and recordkeeping functions, including vital records processes such as birth certificate entry, while supporting overall HIM department operations.

What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in Health Information Management or release of information (ROI) practices preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze information and make sound decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise decisive judgment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume, and potentially stressful healthcare environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and take appropriate action when handling sensitive information.
