Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the design process, transforming ideas into detailed, buildable solutions. As a CAD Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the creation and development of technical drawings and designs that directly contribute to real-world engineering projects. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where precision, creativity, and continuous improvement are highly valued. We’re looking for someone who is curious, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. You’ll be encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and contribute to improving processes, all while developing strong working relationships across the team and with external stakeholders. If you enjoy problem-solving, working collaboratively, and seeing your work turn into tangible results, this role will give you a fantastic platform to develop and thrive. You will produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software to support engineering and manufacturing requirements. Supporting Watson Marlow Group by preparing drawings for new and existing products or components. Supporting the sales team by developing practical design solutions to address customer requirements and challenges. You will support sales costings and purchasing teams in sourcing suitable components and materials to meet project and customer requirements. Interpreting design briefs, specifications, and technical information to translate concepts into detailed drawings for customers. Updating and revising existing drawings to reflect design changes and improvements. Check customer drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards. Collaborating with colleagues across design, manufacturing, and assembly teams to ensure drawings meet practical and operational needs. Managing and maintaining drawing records, ensuring all files are organised, stored, and easily retrievable. Assisting in problem-solving by contributing ideas and adjustments to improve designs and resolve technical challenges. Applying basic engineering knowledge and material understanding when developing and reviewing designs. Using IT systems and tools to support documentation, reporting, and communication across projects.
