Job description
Basic function
Plan and direct heat treating operations to most effectively meet corporate objectives. Identify and drive consistent performance improvement.
Responsibilities
- Alignment of resources, initiatives and operations to achieve business goals and objectives
- Safety – ensure compliance with safety policies and rules. Promote a safety culture. Safety improvement –continuous reduction of workplace hazards, risks, employee accidents
- Manufacturing in compliance with quality systems and established process quality standards
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards (safety, environmental, etc.)
- Customer service (on time performance, cycle times)
- Forecast, plan, schedule and execute production operations according to priorities
- Management and coordination of third party outside processers & subcontract suppliers
- Identification and implementation of improvements
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action investigations into re-work and other quality issues
- Design 'waste' out of our operations
- Cultivation of effective employee relations based on mutual respect
- Effective communication and constructive cooperation between locations and functions
- Leadership, direction and management of salaried staff and hourly production and maintenance employees
- Team Based Culture, engage employees in continuous improvement initiatives
- Stewardship of facilities and equipment
- Establish and control budgets
- Recommend capital improvements

Qualifications & Experience

- 5 to 10 years’ experience in operations management / job shop experience preferred
- Metal, machining and/or finishing experience required.
- Demonstrated results in a high functioning team based environment
- Supervisory/leadership or work experience in a union plant
