The Role 

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Occupational Health Specialist to join our collaborative and highly capable Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees across our Manufacturing Plant based at Old Toongabbie, Sydney.  

As our Occupational Health Specialist, you will partner closely with EHS and business leaders to deliver comprehensive occupational health, injury management, rehabilitation, and wellbeing programs. You'll be at the forefront of promoting a safe and healthy workplace, while helping employees successfully return to work following injury or illness. 

This is a hands-on role that combines your clinical expertise with practical experience in workers' compensation, injury management, and workplace rehabilitation. You'll also support the operation of our onsite Health Centre, provide first aid support where required, and contribute to the delivery of a range of corporate wellness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and coordinate Return to Work (RTW) and rehabilitation programs for employees recovering from workplace related injuries and illnesses 

  • Manage workers' compensation case administration and maintain accurate employee medical records in line with legislative, medical, and insurer requirements 

  • Review pre-employment medical assessments and health screening reports to ensure employees are fit for their roles 

  • Provide guidance and training to employees and leaders on safe work practices, including ergonomics and manual handling 

  • Coordinate health and wellbeing programs across Australian sites, including annual flu vaccinations and other corporate wellness initiatives 

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the onsite Health Centre and provide first aid assistance as required 

  • Collaborate with the EHS Manager to develop and implement occupational health policies, programs, and initiatives 

  • Coordinate and supervise temporary or additional resources when needed to support health, medical, and rehabilitation activities 

  • Stay current with emerging occupational health trends, legislation, and best practices to continually enhance workplace health outcomes. 

Requirements 

  • Tertiary qualification in Allied Sciences and/or Occupational Health-related disciplines 

  • Registered Nurse qualification is good to have (Australian registration highly desirable) 

  • Demonstrated experience in: Injury Management and Workers' Compensation Case Management 

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and database systems 

  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills 

  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams 

  • Strong initiative, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset 

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities 

  • Flexible and responsive approach to changing business needs.
