
Respiratory Therapist Physician Practice
Job Description
The Registered Respiratory Therapist oversees the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of patients with pulmonary disorders at Franciscan. This position uses a variety of testing techniques to assist doctors in diagnosing disorders, and determines requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, or medication and dosages, compatible with physicians' orders.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Perform complete PF( body box, Nitrogen washout, Diffusion, spirometry) , MIP/MEP or spirometry according to ATS standards
Perform 6 min walk / exhaled Nitric oxide/nocturnal oximetry
Apply oxygen as needed per Medicare/o2 guidelines when required per patient needs
Instruct patient utilizing OPEP device( Aerobika)/ Vest trial to help mobilize secretions
Instruct patient utilizing peak flow meters
MDI instructions and delivery for testing purposes
Maintaining quality assurance on machines
Participate in patient education.
Perform patient assessments.
Evaluate need for diagnostic exam.
Participate in team process
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy
- Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Required Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - State Licensing Board Respiratory Care Practitioner license
