Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team in Lansing, MI! This role has direct paths for career growth and would be ideal for a candidate who has recently graduated.

We are seeking a motivated Traffic Engineer to join our team and contribute to the planning, design, and operation of safe and efficient transportation systems. In this role, you will analyze traffic data, develop signal timing plans, conduct roadway and intersection studies, and support the design of traffic control devices and infrastructure improvements. Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge and develop basic skills in traffic design. 
  • Apply learned techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare low-level complexity general traffic designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Assist with other project-related tasks such as maintenance of traffic, signals, permanent signing, and pavement markings.
  • Exercise judgement on details of work and work under direct supervision on all aspects of tasks assigned.
  • Work within MicroStation, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.
  • Interpret drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
  • EIT (Engineer In Training) certification preferred.
  • Prior internship experience using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for the purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
