Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
The Application Engineering Group Manager leads a team of Applications Engineers responsible for demonstrating product value, validating new capabilities, and enabling successful customer adoption of advanced semiconductor solutions.
The role combines technical leadership, customer engagement, and team management, with a strong focus on demos (Alpha/Beta), data analysis, feature feasibility, and recipe optimization.
This position serves as a key bridge between R&D, product management, and customers, ensuring solutions meet real-world manufacturing requirements and drive product differentiation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Operational excellence: Ability to manage multiple parallel tasks and competing priorities, effectively maneuvering between internal and external customer demands while maximizing team throughput and responsiveness
- Leadership & management: Proven experience managing teams of 10+ direct reports and 30+ matrix/dotted-line engineers, including resource planning, prioritization, and performance execution
- Customer orientation: Strong customer-facing skills, with experience leading technical engagements, demos, and escalations, and building trusted relationships with key stakeholders
- Technical expertise: Deep understanding of system behavior and application workflows, enabling extraction of maximum value from tools/products to meet customer needs
- Domain knowledge: Strong background in semiconductor metrology, inspection, or process engineering
- Advantage: Solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes (lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, etc.)
