Description
We’re looking for a Press Technician to join our team in Weymouth, playing a key role in keeping our print operation running smoothly and to a high standard.
Working across press, reel-stand, platemaking and mailroom areas, you’ll be responsible for preparing and operating printing equipment, ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining excellent print quality throughout every run.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with machinery, takes pride in quality, and values teamwork in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up the press for production, including plate sorting, fitting and webbing-up
- Monitor print quality throughout runs, ensuring standards are maintained
- Follow job specifications and ensure all required information is in place before printing
- Maintain accurate production records, including performance and material usage
- Support the delivery of production schedules with a flexible, team-focused approach
- Carry out routine cleaning, maintenance and housekeeping across the press and surrounding areas
- Work closely with Mailroom, Platemaking and Engineering teams
- Operate equipment safely, including forklift use where required
- Report faults, consumable levels and any production issues to supervisors
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including PPE requirements
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Ideally, experience within a print environment; however, candidates with hands-on machine operating or mechanical experience are also encouraged to apply
- Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with machinery
- A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to follow processes and maintain attention to detail in a production setting
- Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to different tasks across the print centre
- Commitment to working safely and following health and safety procedures, including PPE requirements
- Comfortable working in a physically active role
