Job Description

The Electronic Technician II, NAVAIDS shall maintain and repair electronics systems such as instrument landing systems (ILS), tactical air navigation system (TACAN), non-directional beacon (NDB), VHF Omni Directional Radio Range (VOR) and various weather systems.

Individual shall demonstrate experience in applying advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems (i.e., those that cannot be solved by reference to manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents). Work requires extensive and thorough knowledge of the principles of electricity and electronics, shop supervision, including shop practices and techniques; and requires thorough knowledge of electronic and electrical circuitry. Candidate will interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, manuals, handbooks, and technical specifications and use expert knowledge of electronics and electronic principles.  

Essential Job Functions: (Duties typically include but not limited to)

  • Qualified on typical military and commercial Navigational/ systems.
  • Maintain navigational aid systems and meteorological systems (when available) IAW technical orders/guidelines and/or operational manuals.
  • Maintain meteorological observing, collecting, and display systems.
  • Possess and exercise extensive knowledge on specialized test equipment and software to perform fault diagnostics to isolate malfunctions.
  • Inspect equipment at specified intervals and determine operational status. Tuning, aligning, and adjusting equipment is required.
  • Repair of mechanical and electrical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Assist in the completion of flight inspections to include on-the-spot equipment adjustments.
  • Ensure maintenance data collection forms and inspections are accurately completed.
  • Maintains Facilities Records and Preventive Maintenance Data (PMI) and complete all reports/records as required.
  • Independently verify operational condition of Navigational systems and integrated systems within prescribed parameters IAW applicable Technical Orders/Manuals or other supporting documentations (commercial manuals, ICAO publications, etc.)
  • Maintain, align, and repair TACAN, VOR, ILS, NDB, and/or integrated systems for inspections and at required intervals.
  • Apply previous experience maintaining additional ATC NAVAID Systems such as: DME-2020, ILS-2100, MMLS, RCSU-2238, TACAN-2010, TRN-41, TRN-44, FLB-100 and VOR-1150.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Site Management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Navigation Aids (NAVAIDS) systems, including ILS, VOR, DME, NDB, TACAN, or related equipment.
  • Knowledge of FAA, ICAO, and applicable aviation regulations, standards, and safety procedures.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment, diagnostic tools, and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Ability to install, calibrate, inspect, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on NAVAIDS equipment.
  • Strong understanding of RF systems, electrical circuits, digital electronics, and telecommunications principles.

Travel:100%, in deployed location.
