Live-in Residential Mentor
Position Overview
We are seeking a responsible, mature, and student-centered Live-in Residential Mentor to support the daily residential life of international high school students at our private boarding school program.
This role is especially ideal for graduate students, doctoral candidates, or aspiring educators interested in mentorship, student life, and residential education. The Residential Mentor will live on-site and help foster a safe, structured, and supportive living and learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support students in the residential program
- Help students maintain healthy daily routines and study habits
- Assist with evening study hall and residential check-ins
- Provide school pick-up/drop-off transportation and approved activity transportation
- Promote a safe, respectful, and positive residential environment
- Support students’ personal growth, responsibility, and well-being
- Communicate with school staff regarding student concerns when necessary
- Respond appropriately to residential emergencies or urgent situations
- Assist with maintaining general residential organization and expectations
Schedule & Work Structure
This is a live-in residential support position with a flexible split-shift schedule.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Morning student transportation and school preparation
- Afternoon student pick-up and residential supervision
- Evening study support, dinner supervision, and dormitory management
- Limited weekend responsibilities as needed
Example daily structure may include:
- Morning Duty: approximately 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM
- Off-Duty / Personal Time: approximately 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Evening Duty: approximately 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Non-duty hours are considered personal time unless emergency assistance is required.
Work schedule may vary based on school calendar and residential program needs.
Qualifications
- Current doctoral students strongly preferred
- Prior experience working with teenagers or students preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Responsible, organized, and dependable
- Comfortable working in a residential school environment
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and school clearance requirements
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
